I can understand why some people still prefer grammar corrective software, but I feel it was far too judgmental for me. I am a chronic overthinker, and I found Grammarly making me question everything, even things that, in hindsight, didn't really need questioning. It was almost like I was judging my own work by proxy. Not a good idea when you're already quite anxious.
Mind you, I'm not a complete fan of wordy sentences, unless it actually works. Which perhaps explains why I love Franz Kafka's stories, but hate his style.
I blame all those mind-numbing peer-reviewed journal articles and textbooks I had to read in my university days!
