It’s Silly To Refuse Preferred Pronouns

Please, don’t be a dick…

“But they don’t look like that,” they say. And isn’t that sentence ironic.

They…

Unfortunately, there are people out there who refuse to accept preferred pronouns. They conjure up biological arguments so they can conserve their right to ignore change. Because they feel it is right to adhere to genitals when referring to boys and girls. But aren’t we more than just genitals?

Of course, we all have dangly bits that help refer to males and females. But do we need to know what every person’s genitals are?

And does it change anything if you refer to someone who looks like a she as a he?

It doesn’t. The world will go on and we’ll all be happier being referred to by our preferred titles.

Yes, that even means you. If you wish to hold true to your biological genitals, that’s your right. Nobody is taking that right from you — and if they are, please tell them to fuck off. But some of us don’t feel that way. Some of us don’t adhere to one or the other and there’s nothing you can do to change that. And why should you?

The world’s not going to collapse because you referred to a trans man as a man. You’re not going to lose your right to be your true male or female self. This is not cancel culture, this is acceptance. And even if you don’t feel comfortable referring to them as male, there’s always their name. Or even simply use to they/them.

Don’t be a dick for the sake of conservatism. These are people, just like you. Some of them want to be the opposite sex and others refuse to adhere to social structures around gender. And you can either waste your time whining about it or accept it and move on with your life.

There are more important things to worry about, in my humble opinion.
