Especially considering the author is a gay man, you'd think he would have known better. More than that, you'd think the editor would have known better. A secret gay relationship may be secret for a reason. Sure, Rebel may have been fine with the world knowing she is fond of ladies, but one couldn't exactly know about her lover.

This is not like any other straight celebrity couple. We may be in 2022, but the fact is there are arseholes in this world. And that, unfortunately, is a good reason for some people not to out themselves.

It's never okay to force someone to come out. And also, let's not forget that rebel hasn't exactly come out yet. Sure, we know she is in a relationship with a woman, but that doesn't make her lesbian. She may not even be bisexual. She may just be questioning her sexuality, which is totally okay!
